Formex is always good for a surprise. While other brands decided to hold back with 2020 novelties, the independent watch manufacturer from Biel/Bienne, known for their innovative features and use of special materials, launches their new top of the line model. Limited to just 25 pieces, the Essence Automatic Chronometer Oro LE combines precious metals with high tech materials. The result is a stunning watch, made of 18-carat solid rose gold, titanium, carbon fiber composite, forged carbon fiber and Zirconium oxide ceramic.
First launched in 2018, the Essence series proofed to be a clever combination of sportiness, original design and functionality. With a case made of 33 grams of solid 18ct rose gold, the Essence Oro LE ads a factor of elegance to that mix. Each one of the extremely thin forged carbon fiber dials is a unique piece due to the varying patterns of the material. Being the most exposed components of the watch, Formex opted to use virtually scratch-proof zirconium oxide ceramic for the bezel and crown. A masterfully executed mix of mirror polish and brushed finish has been applied and hand-finished to surfaces and bevels throughout the whole watch.
The carbon composite case back allows a view of the COSC certified Sellita SW200 chronometer movement with a “perlage” finish and thermally blued screws. The case container made of titanium, is constructed with the patented case suspension system, adding to the comfort and robustness of the Essence Oro. The attention to detail has also been applied to the deployant clasp. Using the proprietary carbon composite material, the clasp offers a patented fine adjustment to the length of the strap, that allows you to find that perfect fit, without having to take off the watch. With 11g of 18ct rose gold, the buckle rounds off the elegant design. The Essence Oro comes with a diverse strap package consisting of an elegant leather, a sporty rubber and casual nylon strap, all interchangeable within seconds without the need for tools.
With a price of 7’900 USD, Formex again manages to offer an unparalleled price-performance for their new top of the line model, made possible by their clever distribution strategy and top-notch product development and production capabilities. The Essence Oro instantly establishes itself as a price leader in chronometers made of precious metals and high-tech materials with watches of this category more often found in the 20k+ USD price range. The strictly limited number of Essence Oro is now available for pre-order on the Formex online store and the desired serial number from 1-25 can be secured by placing a deposit of 2’000 USD with delivery expected in July 2020. As usual for Formex, all orders already include shipping, taxes & duties, a 30-day free return policy and 3 years of warranty.
